Aryaka Networks started in November 2008 and has received $54M in venture funding. It’s HQ is in Milpitas, CA. They call themselves Cloud Network-as-service, WAN Optimization as-a-Service and Application Delivery as-a-Service. To keep it simple, I view them as a Private B2B Content Delivery Network running over IPSec (VPN).
The Aryaka team is a top notch well seasoned group of ex-CDN executives. The CEO was the founder of Speedera which was acquired by Akamai. Just when you thought all business models for CDNs have been exhausted here comes Aryaka. Their business model is amazing and their service offering is brilliant.
The first requirement for needing their service – companies must have multiple locations. Next, there must a router with IPSec capabilities at each site. With that in place, Aryaka can replace MPLS and Application Delivery Controllers. And the farther the offices are the more attractive is the Aryaka offering. My hunch is they will be acquired within the next 12 months for some major cash. Stay tuned.
