Cool Startup – Namogoo

Tel-Aviv based startup Namogoo is a cybersecurity company that protects against client-side attacks, a growing but under-the-radar threat that compromise a user’s privacy and affects their experience of a website. Namogoo is the first company to not only guard against this problem, but educate the public that the problem exists. They are using a B2B model and their technology is currently deployed by a number of Fortune 50 to Fortune 500 companies.

Interview with Shlomi Gian, CEO of PacketZoom

Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Shlomi Gian, the newly appointed CEO of PacketZoom. Shlomi moved to PacketZoom just as they secured an additional $4.3M of venture funding to scale the company and support expansion. PacketZoom, whose customers include the leading gaming app Glu Mobile, was founded in 2013 and seeks to enhance the mobile app experience by removing roadblocks that affect speed and performance in the last mobile mile. PacketZoom calls it the Mobile Expresslane™.

Next Chapter in IoT DDoS Attacks

Earlier this week, Akamai released threat research relating to the recent string of DDoS attacks that make use of IoT devices by exploiting security weaknesses in their factory settings. In the report, Akamai provided information about how IoT devices are being accessed by remote users and how to prevent future attacks, which are certain to become increasingly common as the source code for Mirai, the malware responsible for the largest of the IoT DDoS attacks, was released on Hackerforums earlier this month.

PacketZoom Secures $4.3M Venture Funding and Appoints Shlomi Gian CEO

Mobile content delivery and acceleration company PacketZoom is announcing two major developments this week: the acquisition of additional funding from existing investors First Round Capital, Baseline Ventures, Founders Collective, and Tandem Capital, and the appointment of Shlomi Gian as their new CEO. Says Bill Trenchard, a partner at First Round Capital, “PacketZoom has revolutionized the content delivery approach to completely reimagine and improve the mobile user experience. The team continues to innovate, and the addition of seasoned mobile leaders such as Shlomi Gian underscores the strength of the PacketZoom as a whole.”

State of Union Update on Wowza Media Systems
