Azure CDN, Akamai, EdgeCast, CloudFlare, Sitelock, Zenedge, Level 3, Distil Networks, Fireblade, F5 Networks, Radware, and dozens more offer DDoS Mitigation Services. The DDoS services include everything from the basic Layer 3/4 protection, to advanced protection against multi-vector attacks across Layer 3/4/7. Amazon is one of the very few global service providers that has no official DDoS Mitigation service in place. With that being said, we are predicting that Amazon will roll out a DDoS mitigation service in the next 90 days, in order to plug a hole in the current product line. Once Amazon rolls it out, are they likely to charge for it? We say yes, as there is no value in anything free. A while back, Amazon offered free FEO, and by the looks of it, it didn’t seem like it went anywhere.
