Limelight Networks Is Making Some Moves

Categories

Limelight Networks (LLNW) has been on a roll this week. First they exceed earning expectations, and a few days afterwards they introduce the Limelight Orchestrate Platform for Gaming. It’s a brilliant move on LLWN’s part, in that every new feature and value added service they intro into the ecosystem, it help’s them stay on par with other CDNs in the innovation business. LLNW’s has introduced two vertical based solutions this year; one for Broadcast and the other for Gaming. Both are great segments, and as LLNW stated in their press release, the gaming industry is growing dramatically, and estimated to reach $102.9 billion in 2017.

If LLNW can somehow capture just a small percentage of the gaming sector, it can help them maintain their position in the ecosystem, and grow it in the long term. The broadcast is sector is cool because it has its own vernacular, workflows, and technologies that is foreign to some CDNs. It definitely helps in the competitive edge department, and puts them closer to Akamai, Level 3 and Verizon EdgeCast in the broadcast delivery business. The entire CDN ecosystem applauds the move because when LLNW does well, so does the entire CDN ecosystem.
